Following a request from the National Government of Somaliland in 2013, Hadia has been developing the regional hospital of Gabiley. At the same time, the general medical situation throughout the country was assessed so that wider assistance can be offered in larger regional settings.

Hadia Medical Swiss was confronted with the marked prevalence of female genital mutilation and the extremely high level of mother and child mortality. These are the primary reasons behind our support for the struggle against female genital mutilation and the work to improve medical care for mothers and new borns.
