The University Hospital of Basel is the Swiss University Hospital that concentrates on development cooperation in Africa and has many years of experience in this continent. It has, for example, worked for some decades in Ifakara and Tabora in Tanzania as well as in Kashikishi in Zambia. More recently the hospital is working together with Edna Adan University Hospital in Hargeysa and Hadia Medical Swiss.

The University Hospital Basel supports this project by providing qualified training staff to improve the medical human resources concerning mother and child health within Somaliland.
